We've been offering our very popular summer camps since 2008. We pride ourselves on our small class sizes, our high teacher to student ratio, and on offering many choices of themes for beginner riders up to experienced horse folk!
The summer schedule for 2026 is ready! Camps fill quickly - many fill just with our own students - so please email us right away if you're interested in signing up. We can't wait to talk to you about all the fun we have planned!
Camp policies are much the same as always. We maintain a 1:5 adult to child ratio, maximum of ten campers for most camps. Please check to make sure of appropriate ages and experience levels, since these change from camp to camp. If you’re not sure of your child’s level, please check with your instructor. Please know that it is perfectly
normal to take the same camp multiple times. Progress is not linear and there is always a skill range within a camp. You may be just barely able to handle the material one year, and comfortable the next, and the best rider in the camp the third year. All of these have value to your development as a rider and shouldn't be discounted!

Campers who haven’t ridden here before may be asked to take a placing lesson ($45) before confirming your enrollment, especially for more advanced levels. A $100 non-refundable deposit is required at the time of sign-up to hold your child’s place, with full payment due on the first morning of camp. Please come to camp with appropriate footwear and helmet (except for beginner camp, where we can loan you the helmet), lunch, and water.

COVID/illness policies: we will be following the state guidelines at the time of camp. Masks were optional last summer, but always allowed and accepted. We encouraged parents, siblings, friends, etc. to visit on the last day of camp when we typically have a show or open house, but to otherwise stick to dropping off and picking up their campers (this is also helpful for allowing students to focus on the camp). If you need to cancel before camp begins due to COVID or other illness, we will do our best to fill your slot with someone else. Unfortunately, we are not able to offer refunds of any kind once a session of camp has begun.
CAMP SESSIONS 2026:

Young Riders!: June 15th-17th, 9AM-11:30AM (three day camp) - full, please email for wait list
Head Instructor: Renee Cabatic
Cost: $225
This camp is expressly designed with the youngest horse lovers in mind – target age for campers is 3-7 years old. Campers learn to groom and care for their horse in addition to riding.
A parent or other trusted adult is required to attend and remain close to each young rider throughout the camp. Young Riders will be assigned a horse and an experienced Sunflower Stables rider volunteer at the instructors’ discretion to ensure safety, support, and a positive riding experience.
This camp is a fun, gentle introduction to the wonderful world of equestrianship!

Mounted Games: June 22nd-26th, 8AM-1PM
Head Instructor: Riven Benson
Cost: $350
Do you like to try new (sometimes silly) things on horseback? Are you perhaps a bit competitive? Do you like to go as fast as possible? Then this camp might be for you!
The British Pony Club takes gymkhana to a whole new level (there are some very skilled riders on YouTube if you search for pony club mounted games). The sport involves teams of riders playing relay games that involve speed, agility, precision, and trust. This is a new camp for us and we’re very excited to dive into this world! This is an advanced level camp that requires riders to be very confident controlling a horse at walk, trot, and canter, and be ten years old at least.

Jumping II: July 6th-10th, 8AM-1PM
Head Instructor: Riven Benson
Cost: $350
Jumping II is a favorite camp for our advanced students, who must be confident riders already regularly jumping 2’. Play jumping games like the classic Chase Me Charlie as well as our in-barn favorites like Three Doors and Grandma’s Suitcase, jump in our fields, jump bareback…

Circus Camp: July 13th-17th, 8AM-1PM - full, please email for wait list
Head Instructor: Riven Benson
Cost: $350
Step into the spotlight and experience the thrill of Circus Camp! This unique camp is all about mastering the arts of vaulting, trick riding, and Roman riding while building confidence, balance, and teamwork. Throughout the week, you'll work with different horses as you learn awe-inspiring equestrian stunts, from standing on horseback to dazzling tricks worthy of a circus performance.
In addition to riding, we'll explore horse care, strength training, and choreography to help you develop the skills needed for circus-style riding. No need to be an expert, but you should be comfortable handling a horse, riding at the walk and trot, and at least eight years old. Please note that the focus of this camp is on developing a specialized skill set that will not necessarily involve a lot of ‘typical’ riding time.

Sunflower Stables' Second Ever Adult Beginner Camp: July 18th and 25th, 9AM-3PM (please note non-consecutive dates)
Head Instructor: Renee Cabatic
Cost: $225
If you have no, very little, or long ago experience but always dreamed of having a relationship with a horse (or a few) now is your chance!
We will learn the beginnings of horse communication with our majestic (and sometimes goofy) friends. Spend time playing ground games, learning how to groom and tack up Western, English, and bareback. While mounted, we will walk, trot, steer, stop and traverse various obstacles in our covered and outdoor arenas. Ready riders will end the camp with a lunge line canter clinic.
Make your childhood dreams come true!

Sunflower Stables' Second Ever Adult Intermediate Camp: July 19th and 26th, 9AM-3PM (please note non-consecutive dates)
Head Instructor: Renee Cabatic
Cost: $225
A two day intensive camp for adults who have some experience with horses.
As intermediate riders you can tack up independently. You are competent at the walk and trot - can steer at the trot, post, sit, ride bareback. You may have begun learning to canter (possibly on the lunge line). By the end of this weekend you will be able to lead your horse through obstacles and play ground games. We'll sample cantering, jumping, more complex obstacles as we develop our relationships and ability to speak horse.
In this camp you will make friends both human and equine as you further your skills on the ground and while mounted.

Drill Team: July 20th-24th, 8AM-1PM
Head Instructor: Renee Cabatic
Cost: $350
The Equestrian Drill Team is a group of horses and riders performing choreographed maneuvers to music. Drill Team Camp riders will learn how to create moving patterns using precise spacing, alignment, timing and coordination.
Focus will be required to learn formations such as Straight Line Abreast, Columns of various numbers, nose-to-knee or nose-to-hip Obliques, Serpentines, Pivots, Chevrons/Flying Wedges and various Circles; as well as more complex maneuvers including Zipper, Pinwheel, Wedding Rings, Basket Weave, Lace the Boot, Spiral/Peel the Apple, Crack the Whip, and Shoot the Moon.
Teamwork is essential and will include creating a team name with opportunities for costuming, flag work, and the selection of a theme and musical accompaniment.
Riders must be proficient at steering and changing speeds at walk/trot, and starting to canter, and at least eight years old.

Yoga and Conditioning Camp: July 27th-29th, 8AM-1PM
Head Instructor: Renee Cabatic
Cost: $225
Join us for a unique 3-day summer camp that blends the mindfulness of yoga with the magic of horses to help riders grow stronger, more balanced, and more connected—both in the saddle and in themselves.
Each day combines gentle, rider-focused yoga sessions with hands-on horse time and riding instruction. Campers will build core strength, flexibility, balance, and body awareness, while learning how breath, focus, and emotional regulation directly improve communication with their horse.
Through movement, mindful practices, and guided riding exercises, participants will:
-
Improve balance, posture, and coordination
-
Increase flexibility and strength for safer, more effective riding
-
Develop calm focus and confidence
-
Deepen their connection and communication with their horse
Learn practical tools to manage nerves and ride with greater ease
This camp is perfect for riders who want to refine their skills in a supportive, fun, and holistic environment—while enjoying time with horses, making new friends, and spending meaningful time outdoors.
No previous yoga experience is required, and you need not be an advanced rider, though we ask that participants have about a year’s worth of lessons so that the focus can be on the skills of the camp and not basic horse handling. A love of horses and a willingness to learn and grow is the most important prerequisite.
A limited number of yoga mats and props will be available. Participants are encouraged to bring their own mat and any preferred props for outdoor yoga.

Beginner session II: August 3rd-7th, 8AM-1PM - full, please email for wait list
Head Instructor: Renee Cabatic
Cost: $350
Fall in love with horses this summer in a camp that will cover basic horse knowledge and daily care as well as riding skills! Students in this camp typically learn to steer their own horse, sit the walk and trot, do a safety dismount at the walk, and we always play lots of games!
Jumping I: August 10th-14th, 8AM-1PM
Head Instructor: Renee Cabatic/Riven Benson
Cost: $350
Jumping is a sport that requires precise control over speed and steering as well as an excellent seat and it rewards you with thrills and laughter! Students who sign up for this camp don’t need to be jumping already (although it certainly helps). Students will need to be proficient and confident at the walk, trot and canter on the rail, and be at least eight years old. We will jump cross rails and verticals, play jumping games to improve our skills and possibly jump outside of the arena!
Horse Ownership: August 17th-21st, 8AM-1PM
Head Instructor: Renee Cabatic/ Banker: Riven Benson
Cost: $350
Learn about the practical skills and financial responsibilities of owning a horse in this unique camp.
The week starts with the distribution of (pretend) funds which go toward the ‘purchase’ of your very own Sunflower Stables horse at an exciting (and a bit nerve wracking) horse auction. After that, we are off to the races (figuratively), with the joys, demands, and daily dice rolls that decide the profits and pitfalls of horse ownership. We’ll learn all the daily/weekly and annual tasks horse owners need to know as well as horse first aid, and even have equine specialists like the farrier, chiropractor and veterinarian come visit. We’ll also do plenty of riding, of course. Feel more prepared to have your own horse someday!
You don’t need to be an expert rider for this one, but you do need to be confident handling a horse, riding at the walk and trot, and at least eight years old.
Mounted Archery: August 24th-28th, 8AM-1PM
Head Instructor: Riven Benson
Cost: $350
Mounted archery is a complex blend of sports between horse riding and archery. You will be able to learn the basic skills and safety of archery, refine your archery skills, and use them on horseback. We will do a combination of archery on the ground, archery on horseback, and of course some fun rides and games in between. Students will have to be comfortable and confident at a walk and trot hands free, and at least eight. We will have to do a lot of leg communication with the horses due to our hands being preoccupied with the bows and arrows.
We welcome any skill level of archer, but it would be ideal if you could provide your own bow and arrows because our stock is very limited (a shorter bow would be easiest to use). Arm guards and finger tabs are very much encouraged for your own comfort if you have access to them.

Summer Training Team: June 16th-August 25th, 1-3PM (Tuesdays only)
Head Instructor: Sunflower Stables Staff
Cost: $250
Open to current and alum members of both training teams, this is a once-weekly meeting to check in on our progress. Let’s swap ideas, ride together, put out new toys to play with, and generally do our training thing! (Priced assuming students will miss a week or two, since it’s summer…) And yes, training team students are still allowed to ride training horses outside of meeting times, but must have an adult present in case of emergency. Depending on what camp is going on, it may be possible to ride in the mornings, but please inquire before you come!
